Parent Leadership Pathways
Parent Leadership Pathway – engaging parents Now!
Every Wednesday 9:00am to 11:30am
The office of Parent Engagement & Training has a full schedule of parentworkshops this fall. The Parent Leadership Pathway workshops are offered over the course of 10 weeks, and are provided at no cost to the school or the participants. The commitment from the school is merely to provide space. The facilitator will bring in all materials, child care, interpretation where needed, and a light snack.
The format of each workshop is interactive. Each session builds participants’ skills in supporting their child’s education. Topics such as homework, positive communication, building resilience, and the importance of good attendance are included. Additionally, the workshops enable the group to build cohesion and community while they also practice leadership skills.
In Tier 2 workshops, offered to those who have taken Tier 1, topics build participants’ understanding of new themes such as resilient families, social and emotional learning (SEL), and cultural competency. Many of those who complete these workshops move on to take a greater role in our district, by joining school site committees, or by becoming involved in decision making at the district level. Most importantly, they feel connected to their school and equipped to support their child in a positive and constructive way.
